Barbados Jazz Festival
Held annually in mid January, this event attracts local Barbadian,
regional Caribbean, and international artistes as well as spectators
from all over the world. |

Errol Barrow Day
This is a Public Holiday in honour of one of Barbados’ greatest Prime
Ministers. |

Barbados Holetown Festival
The Festival commemorates the landing of the first settlers to Barbados
at Holetown, St. James in February 1627. Highlights include historic
tours, street fairs, the Royal Police and Concert, a Musical Festival in
the historic Parish Church and a Queen Show. |

The Barbados Sandy Lane Gold Cup
The running of this prestigious event brings together top class horses
from Barbados, Martinique, Trinidad and Tobago, and North America. The
Venue for this nine furlong invitational race is the historic Garrison
Savannah. |

Barbados Hockey Federation “Banks Hockey Festival”
One of the largest hockey events in the hemisphere, and certainly one of
the most cosmopolitan and exciting events in the entire world of hockey;
teams from Europe and the UK, North America, Barbados and the Caribbean
take part in this weeklong explosion of Caribbean warmth, music and
culture combined with excellent hockey played at historic pitches within
Barbados. |

Nine (9) days of exciting events to celebrate the quality and diversity
of food and drink available throughout the island of Barbados. A unique
event that brings together a number of the Barbados’s top restaurants
under one roof for an evening of sampling great food, and enjoying its

Sagicor Life Official Lighting Ceremony & Bajan Folk
Brew
Held November 1st each year in Heroes’ Square Bridgetown, Barbados, this
ceremony is attended by His Excellency the Governor General and signals
the start of Independence celebrations. It also signals the turning on
of lights on buildings in and around Bridgetown as well as roundabouts
across Barbados. |

Independence Pro Surfing Championships & Banks Pro Long Board Classic
Held November 5-6 each year at Soup Bowl, Bathsheba, Barbados, Surfers
from the East Coast USA, Caribbean and Puerto Rico take part in a full
days surfing competition and beach party along Barbados’s east coast. |

Spirit of the Nation Show
Held every year on the last Saturday of November at Garfield Sobers
Gymnasium, this is the Secretariat’s largest event which attracts
approximately 5,000 Barbadians each year. It represents all eleven (11)
parishes, witnessing the best of parish talent and also highlights the
uniqueness of each parish in Barbados. |

Spirit of Independence Tour –
All eleven parishes in Barbados are visited throughout the day by the
Parish Ambassadors and other Barbadians in buses. The primary intent of
which is to take our Independence spirit into the nursing homes around
Barbados, to support those who for whatever reason are unable to attend
events. |
